Riip Beer Co. (often styled RIIP or Riip Beer) is a popular award-winning craft brewery based in Huntington Beach, California. The location on Magnolia is specifically Riip Beer & Pizzeria South HB at 19171 Magnolia St. #12 (corner of Magnolia and Garfield, in the Home Depot parking lot). This is one of the company’s expansion spots and occupies the historic site of the long-running Fitzgerald’s Irish Pub. The original brewery and main taproom are a short distance away on Pacific Coast Highway in the Sunset Beach area of Huntington Beach. 

Origins: From Garage Homebrewing to Delivery Icon (2014–2015)
Riip was founded in 2014 by two brothers-in-law, Ryan Rasmussen and Ryan Hopkins, who shared a deep passion for craft beer. They began as a homebrewing operation in a small garage in Downtown Huntington Beach using a 20-gallon brew sculpture from MoreBeer. Friends and family loved the beer so much that they kept asking where they could buy larger quantities. 
They quickly moved into a tiny ~1,000-square-foot warehouse in the industrial part of Huntington Beach (June 2014) and produced their first commercial batch, Riip Jitsu Session Ale, in March 2015. Early on they faced the classic small-brewery challenge: they lacked the funds and permits for onsite consumption/sales at the warehouse.
Instead of waiting, they got creative. They acquired a 1931 Helms Bakery coach (an old bread delivery truck) from the retiring owner of BrewBakers in Huntington Beach. The seller’s only condition was that the truck stay in Huntington Beach and continue serving the local community. Riip turned it into a mobile craft-beer delivery service — the “milkman of craft beer” — complete with taps on the outside of the truck. Customers ordered ahead, and the truck delivered growlers and bottles right to their doors starting in April 2015. This unique approach built a strong grassroots reputation extremely quickly and became a local icon. 
Tasting Room, Awards & Rapid Growth (2015–2018)
In July 2015 they signed a lease for a 1,200-square-foot strip-mall space on Pacific Coast Highway in Sunset Beach (directly across from the ocean and Bolsa Chica Wetlands). The tasting room opened in October 2015. This became the flagship brewery and taproom.

Key milestones followed:
• 2016: First entry into the Great American Beer Festival (GABF). Riip won a Silver medal for Super Cali IPA in the highly competitive American IPA category (over 400 entries). Brewed on their tiny 3-barrel system, they became the smallest brewery ever to win a GABF medal in that category. 
• 2017: Expanded production capacity with a larger brewing system and more space to meet demand.
• 2018: Hired Ian McCall as head brewer (he later became Brewmaster/Director of Brewing Operations). That year they earned a second GABF Silver for Black the Riipper (Black IPA). Additional fermenters were added and staff grew.
The company continued collecting medals in subsequent years (including Gold and more Silvers at GABF), expanding its reputation for hop-forward IPAs, stouts, and other styles while keeping a fun, “stoke” and “rad” lifestyle ethos. “Riip” itself is described as a state of mind and attitude rather than a specific word — a community of “Riippers.”

The Magnolia Location (Riip Beer & Pizzeria South HB)
The Magnolia Street location is a later expansion. It sits at 19171 Magnolia St. #12 in the Home Depot parking lot and occupies the former site of Fitzgerald’s Irish Pub, a beloved Huntington Beach dive bar that operated for about 40 years. The space has a nostalgic 1990s pizza-parlor feel, with old oak wood walls, a casual relaxed atmosphere, a small arcade, award-winning Riip beers on tap, pizza and comfort food, wines, and a family-friendly vibe. It is designed as a neighborhood spot that blends the brewery’s craft beer with a classic Southern California hangout. 
Riip now operates multiple spots in Huntington Beach, including the original PCH brewery/taproom (dog-friendly, outside food welcome, with a neighboring pizzeria) and the Magnolia pizzeria/beer location.
